Dennis Hong: Making a car for blind drivers | Video on TED.com

Dennis Hong is working with the NFB to develop cars capable of being driven by blind drivers. While this sounds far fetched they already have a working prototype shown in the video.

According to Hong, the spin-off technologies of this exciting project can be adopted to improve safety for all drivers and develop better non-visual user interfaces. We live in an exciting time where technology and medicine give hope for anyone with a visual impairment.

Code Review and Bar Test

Marie is busy with the final code review on the new release of EyeHope for submission to Apple. Meanwhile I'm doing some real world testing this weekend in restaurants and bars. Hard to recreate the varied lighting conditions at home. It is also my good friend Brad's birthday this weekend so might as well kill two stones with one bird.

The new version is faster, has an updated user interface, and we are adding 1-2 handy new features too. The new version should work on the iPad2 however we can't optimize it until our iPad is delivered in the next few weeks.

Note: I will update this post with some screen shots as soon as I can.

Problem Resovled

The EyeHope app was out of the iTunes store for roughly 2 days due to a rookie error when we renewwed our iTunes developer acocunt. We forgot to accept the new tems of service which caused  the issue.

The problem was resolved quickly by Marie and EyeHope is now good to go. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Thanks,

James
